Lexi caught the nasty bug and chest, but with her temp shes having episodes of shaking and her hands and feet going blue lasting for about 20 mins a time :( I think we'd both feel better if she would actually sleep!

Work was well again today :D I need to try and find a bus that runs at 4.30 in the morning though I cant walk becuase ID have to set off to early to have my sister here for the kids and in a taxi is costing £4 a day  I will sort something for that this week though.

I dont suppose any readers no how long it will take for benefits to be sorted and me being without money? IE Tax credits etc? Anyone wise on benefits lol?

get well soon Lexi. Get some sleep sweetie x

it's hard one, usually they take upto 4 weeks, but if you explain to them you have 2 young kids, under 5, they maybe able to push your application through quicker, especially as you are not yet being paid by the job. Tell them you are suffering financial hardship.

good to hear you are enjoying the job still :)

I would echo the hardship theme re tax credits.
Make you also make sure that you get all the benefit run ons that you are entitled too.

    Hope Lexi is feeling better.

    Have a look here
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Employedorlookingforwork/DG_10013908
Lots of info about benefits you can/should get now you're working.

I don't know how long you've been getting Income Support, but if it's been more than 6 months you should be able to get a Job Grant. (£250 for lone parents.) You should get it automatically when you tell them you've started work and your claim is closed, but it wouldn't hurt to mention it! (This is designed to help with "starting work" expenses & to give you some cash to tide you over while your Tax Credits are sorted out.)

Your Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit should also "run-on" for 4 weeks at the same rate as you were getting with Income Support. You can claim HB & CTB when you're working & the "run-on" gives the LA a chance to get that claim sorted-out.

I'll leave you to have a look at the rest!

  • Hello all enjoying work although leaving the house at 4am it is FREEZING this morning it was totally white and very slippy (Yes I found out just how slippy :p)

Lexi's been back to hospital and out of hours still no better poor thing :(

Thank you for all the replies, I called jobcenter as it says they will tell all relavent benefits I am now working etc, They are calling back Monday to go through everything. I called Tax Credits myself becuase I wanted to know where I stood re how long Id have no money, good news is it wont stop at all :D and my award notice should be through within 4 weeks :) Just hoping the good news stays from the Jobcenter Monday!

Well first (half) week at work done and I feel so much happier actually doing something even if it is only a couple of hours.

Well I think I've rambled enough for now Im going to bake cakes and generally make a mess with Cameron as I think he's feeling abit left out with all the attention Lexi is getting

    Hope all is well :)

Good to hear that you've got the ball rolling re your benefits. As they've said, your Child Tax Credit won't stop but don't forget to claim Working Tax Credit, too!

Sorry that your little one is still poorly. Enjoy your baking session. I'm about to do the same (but without "help" from little hands!!).
