Hi, I posted on here a few weeks ago about a missing item sent by me via RM which the buyer didn't recieve.
Well, as events have unravelled things have gone from bad to worse and the levels of incompetence are almost unbelievable.
The order of events is roughly as follows-
1. I post item recorded signed for.
2. Recipient out red card left.
3. Recipient arranges re-delivery - it doesn't turn up.
4. Told by RM to claim and item can be returned to me from holding centre.
5. When chased, told by RM that all items under a certain value are destroyed.
6. RM would not fulfil claim as they claimed the parcel was wrongly adressed, despite the fact that a delivery was attempted and red card left!!
7. RM now saying that the item has not been destroyed and they MIGHT be able to find it!!
Wow, it must take some effort to be that bad!

if you still have the recorded delivery number, they should be able to trace it at your local depot, not the post office, the depot
if they cant, ask them for the belfast office number where lost items go, they were quite helpful to me on one occasion0 -
Start from point 5.
The only things that are not returned to sender in RM are things like business paid letters (like the ones with the M in the corner, usually junk) that are undeliverable and have no return address.
Recorded Delivery items that have no RTS address are sent to Belfast. Where they are opened and they try to find an address for the sender.
Did the recipient call at the delivery office to see if the packet was there? Or did she just arrange the redelivery online? Sometimes a packet isn't back when the redelivery is arranged.
Unfortunately RM are absolute rubbish at communication, especially customer services. I used to get told some elaborate stories from customers when I worked in the callers office about what CS had told them. Usually went away happy when armed with the correct advice.
Have you popped the tracking number into Royal Mail's track and trace? It should tell you if the item has been Returned to sender/ RLB or is still in the delivery office waiting collection.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

The order of events is roughly as follows-
1. I post item recorded signed for. well done
2. Recipient out red card left. yup
3. Recipient arranges re-delivery - it doesn't turn up. so then what? theres a yawning gap here in what happened?
4. Told by RM to claim and item can be returned to me from holding centre. again as above. where was the item? tracking? I guess along with the delivery address you didnt bother with a return address?
5. When chased, told by RM that all items under a certain value are destroyed. wrong, who told you this?
6. RM would not fulfil claim as they claimed the parcel was wrongly adressed, despite the fact that a delivery was attempted and red card left!! you sent it to the wrong address. thankfully the delivery staff fixed your error. however RMs T&Cs state that an incorrect address nullify's a claim
7. RM now saying that the item has not been destroyed and they MIGHT be able to find it!!
Wow, it must take some effort to be that bad!
So where are we? what does the tracking show?0
