TESCO prescribed wrong glasses

I had a routine eye test in June this year and was told by Tesco that I needed new glasses. Having tried a number of times to find a frame I liked, I eventually found some in November and ordered my glasses, together with my free pair, at a cost of £109. I picked them up last week and have struggled so much with them that I have had to revert back to my old glasses.
I took my glasses back to Tesco, who have today rechecked my eyes.
I have been told that I will have to pay again for some new glasses as
1. it is nearly 6 months since my last test and my eyes could have changed;
2. I never told them that i needed them for using my laptop on my knee, that being an intermediate position requiring a different prescription. Not that I was asked about where I positioned books, papers, computers etc to read.
I have been wearing glasses for 35+ years and never had any problems with my glasses until now, but then again, I haven't used Tesco opticians before either.
The optician agreed that we hadn't discussed different reading positions, buit then again neither has any other optician in the past. I cannot afford to lose £109 but these glasses are no good, I can't focus properly with them and have to lift everything nearer my face to be able to see properly.
I am so angry with them but suppose that at least by paying £9 on my credit card I can claim all my mony back under Section 75 of the CCA.
Will never use TESCO OPTICIANS again and will warn others too!

I've had exactly the same experience, back in December just before Christmas. It was four years since I'd had my last test and I was having more and more probelms reading the 'back of packets'.
I however, WAS asked about reading and computer distances - not that this helped. I guess they got it wrong because I have to be about 12" away from my screen before it all comes clear! I've given up on my new glasses and have reverted back to my old pair. I took advantage of the 'Double Rewards' scheme and only used £20 vouchers - but I'm still miffed because I'll have to go back to Specsavers.0 -
I would go back and tell them that you consider that the original prescription was wrong and that 6 months is not suuficient time to render it useless.
If they maintain thier position, mention that according to the Optical Consumer Complaints Service (OCCS), you have a right to mitigation if needed.
I had the run around between two opticians until I mentioned the OCCS.
Matter was resolved in minutes.
