Java Byteverify Trojan

Anybody else got this on their system?

AVG shows it up but can't seem to do anything about it by way of 'healing'. From an original 4 or 5 infected files the count seems to have gone up to a dozen or more over a 6 month period. My system seems to run normally but I'm concerned that trouble might be storing up.

Ideas?

XP is quoted. I still run W98. Will the steps still work?

yes..apart from the one mentioning AVG anti spyware (Ewido) and Microsoft bitdefender

use Spybot and Ad-aware
