Winter Tyres and Tyre Hotel

:eek::mad:

Last winter purchased 4 winter tyres from Kwik-fit and paid £10 per tyre as a storage charge for my summer tyres.

In March, I swapped them back and paid £10 per tyre to store the winter tyres.

Kwik-fit have now changed the rules. Arrange everything via the web and extra costs.

now £10.50 per tyre as a fitting charge and a further £12.50 per tyre to store the summer ones.

They have more than doubled their charges.

In the spring, I think I will find space to store them in my garage or find a cheaper provider.

    if that £10.50 fitting charge is for swapping summer & winter tyres on & off the rims then Ebay will probably come up with a spare set of rims.

    If you already have two sets of rims and the £10.50 is for swapping the rims over then they are taking the pi$$, either way you'll be better off if you can find space at home

    Mine go in the shed. Only pay for tyre hotel if you really don't have the space at home.

    Change them yourself?

    Not easy to do if you only have one set of rims, and then they need balancing on changeover.

    The OP did say tyres and not wheels

    Quite apart from the cost I would be rather concerned about damage to alloy wheels as a result of so many tyre swaps.

    And the potential damage to the tyre bead.

    Reading the limited info on the KF Tyre Hotel, it appears they will only store tyres and not tyres and wheels.

    I have a second set of tyres (summer) and wheels currently sitting in my bathroom as I don't have anywhere to store them.
