Give it to the charity shop or Freecycle it if you don't want it.

Yup, I got one in the post on Thursday, I filed it in the same place as the postcard, ie. the bin.

I got one yesterday, is there a problem then ? (why the _pale_?)
  • I received a Shower Saint on Friday. I didn't request one. It had my address on the packet but someone else's name. I have no use for it and have sent it back.

It does raise other issues though, I think. Apparantly this originates from a Government scheme (according to Consumer Direct) to send out 1.8 million of these as part of a C02 reduction programme. Consumer Direct have had many calls about this product it seems.

That scheme is not bad in itself, but these third party companies (Shower Saint) are being paid to send these things out regardless of whether or not it has been requested.

It seems that they are making money when these things are not being installed. That can't be right, can it?

Can anyone explain how the use of these things differs from just not turning the shower on full pelt?

maybe i've got the wrong end of the sick or something, but it comes with a plastic bag and tells you to put your shower head in the bag for 5 seconds (i think). then if the water has filled to above a marker line you do not need to use the shower saint. if it is below the line you should fit it. so surely it must mean that fitting it will make the water come out faster?:o because the water will now be above the line??
i don't have a clue how it could do that, but otherwise the test bag doesn't make sense?

From what I gather this works in a similar manner to putting your finger over the end of a hose pipe....

I.E you are restricting the amount of water leaving, but maintaining a high pressure from less flow.

Wrong end of the stick! If the water is above the line you do need to fit it, as too much water has come out according to their website instructions. The whole point of it is to restrict the amount of water being used, which saves water and also energy. However they don't work on instant heat electric showers because if slow the water flow down on those the water comes out hotter until you turn the shower controls down which increase the flow again!

My word, what some of you lot save at Tescos you must spend at the Pharmacy on blood pressure prescriptions.

My Showersaint has arrived and I will try it. If it makes my shower any less enjoyable I will ditch it to the charity shop. If I don't witness a notable difference I will leave it on and wonder how I will spend the £900 I will allegedly save over the next 15 years ;)

Yes, I received one today. Didn't ask for it, don't know why I got it. Electric showers all round, so we can't use it or give it to anyone.

Never heard of them til today. Outrageous waste of money.

How does this work? They send them out, get paid Government money, people send them back, then they send the same ones out again to other people who can't use them and get paid more?? Nice work if you can get it.
