renting through your council

i have tried selling my house,but to avail.i was wondering how easy it is to rent through a council,what the rules are,as i am sure you are more or less guaranteed renting it out.i am aware that you can get undesirables but thats another issue,its the rental that i want to know about

Those guaranteed rental schemes will generally rent your house out to drug addicts, ex-criminals, and other assorted folks whom the council can't house elsewhere. Wouldn't risk it myselfpoppy100

Usually you'll be tied into quite a lengthy contract, like between two and five years. Please be aware that despite any assurances from the Council they will not pay to put right all of the damage their tenants may cause. One of the posters on here had a pal who did the same thing and had to shell out SEVEN AND A HALF GRAND to get the property into a fit state to rent it again.
Really, you should consider this route only if you are truly desperate. Because you will be when you eventually get your property back, I assure you0
