No goods, no refund

Hi, I tried to buy some jewellery from a website - not expensive, £27. They were out of stock but this was not specified on website at time of purchase. They offered something else but I asked for a refund. They agreed but there was silence. I contacted them and they said they could not find my payment and asked me to confirm method of payment. I had paid by Visa debit and gave them an extract from online bank statement to prove they had received my money. They then said they found payment and how would I like refund - I opted for a BACS transfer. That was a week ago, still no refund. Contacted them today by email and have asked them when I will be getting refund, no response.

Do I have an rights if they continue not to pay?. Know it is not a great deal of £ but I feel like if they do not pay me back they have just reached into my purse and helped themselves to my money.

  • well the RBL do seem to be making a pig's ear out of this one don't they?

I'm assuming that the email you're sending is going to a central email address rather than a person specific one so I would give them a few more days and then perhaps try speaking to someone rather than sending an impersonal email ?

  • I have been dealing with a named person all the time from her personal email account. This has been going on for over a month so I have been very patient.

    Whats an RLB btw?

RBL - Royal British Legion. I'm guessing the other poster is referencing your other thread. :)

yeap - meant RBL not RLB :)!

OP - I have to say that although emails can be useful they are very easy to ignore or forget about.

Why not ring them and ask to either speak to the person you've been dealing with or her supervisor?

Ask Visa to do a chargeback.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
  • of course the person you're dealing with could be away from the office unexpectedly and not have put an out of office notification on their email address and hence why your refund hasn't been processed.

it always amazes me that people would rather get wound up because an email hasn't been responded to immediately - if they bothered to pick up the phone and deal with a human being directly then things can usually be sorted out there and then - or at least you can find out why the email hasn't been responded to.
