our cars are the biggest drain on our purse. I only do £4,000 miles a year and that is manageable financially but DH does around 12,000. the cost of diesel is staggering , DH needs his car to get to work, we live in a remote rural location and its a 45min journey to his work over exposed hills and country B roads. Ideas anyone? What sort of MPG does a motorbike or moped do for example?

the costs could be higher if he used a petrol car that for sure.

what car is it? engine make model.0 -
not my son, my husband has a car and I have one too. they are both ancient . the MPG is poor. We cannot upgrade to another vehicle with better fuel consumption as we have no money, life savings being just over £200 at the moment. We will not take out a loan. We hope to save up next year and buy a second hand motor bike maybe, but we need to cost it out,ie cost of vehicle verses fuel saving.0

Secondhand Honda 90 should cost next to nothing and do 130mpg. Easy to ride too.Can I help?0

Motor cycle over exposed country roads through the winter?
Pug 106 or its sibling Citroen Saxo Diesel would be an ideal and cheap to buy vehicle for your husbands commute, should see around 60mpg without too much trouble.0
