NHBC - Does it cover windows?

I've got a Wimpy home, built June 2002 so still in the 100 years of HNBC.

One of the windows has recently stopped closing properly - kind of pops out at the bottom, so you need to go outside to push it back in to get it to shut properly.

When you buy new windows everyone seems to give a 10 year warrenty, is it likely that I'll have this on mine, or will NHBC cover it?

I've been through the house purchase info and cant find anything on the windows, but I do have the NHBC info.

Could have a go, but It would be more than likely the supplier of the windows to wimpey, who would warranty it.

They could put it down to ' wear and tear' as it has only just started doing it.

More than likely, it would just need adjusting, brackets could have slipped on one side. Should be farly easy to do yourself. Just losen the screws on the mechanism and push it into position. Had the same with my front door last year, 2 min job

NHBC give a bloody big warranty now , don't they?

We had a similar problem on our new build after 6 years - not covered by NHBC and windows only covered for 5 years on newbuild.

You sure it's 100 years......I'm sure new builds have a shorter life expectancy than this !

Sounds like it needs new hinges, doubt that the warranty will cover it.

Yes, the 100 was of course a typo.

Any idea on the £ damage for new hinges?

NHBC only covers major structual work ,you will not get any where by dealing with them.House builder is usually 2 year guarantee so think your going to have to get repaired yourself,as said proberbly a broken hinge or adjustment needed

The NHBC Buildmark Warranty normally lasts as long as it takes the builder to pull off the site in his van

simple dg window hinges are under a fiver each at screwfix etc...
