Metro Bank credit card - min payment by DD from other bank?

So I got a Metro Bank credit card today with their promotional rate of 0% on everything until Sept 2012. This combined with their no fees abroad turns it in to a rather large free overdraft travel card for me :)

Question is, they couldn't get their head around setting up a minimum payment direct debit from an account outside of Metro Bank. I'm not sure if it is because it isn't possible with them, or they didn't understand what I was asking.

Has anyone managed to set one up? Switching my main bank account to them isn't going to happen until they get faster payments sorted and update their internet banking.

How on earth could bank staff not understand one of the most fundamental parts of banking!

Ok, I just rang up again and got someone a bit more clear.
Even from their OWN bank accounts it seems they can't make minimum payments via their internal system or direct debit.
The only option is a Standing Order.
Very frustrating because the min payment on my £3000 limit could be anything between £20 and £150 lol.

Are you sure about the free use abroad? When I opened a current account I thought they said that only applied to the debit card.

As the full T&C are not on line I can't check

    Happy to be proved wrong

Fees policy definitely applies to their credit card - to confirm their credit agreement has nothing in it with regards to ATM fees, foreign transaction fees or exchange rate loading. Confirmed with member of staff also when I got it. _b

Can vouch from personal experience that MetroBank credit and debit card use abroad attracts no fees. We have used both successfully in many european countries as fas Turkey without a hitch and no worries around exchange rates ie always top notch :j
  • Metro bank better get that one fixed quickly!! Its in breach of The Consumer Credit (EU Directive) Regulations 2010 if they dont offer the option of minimum, full and fixed payment!
