If you book advance train tickets via Southern's website until the end of Jan, but then decide you don't really fancy going, you get a full refund! You can book for other non Southern routes as well. Really worth booking things on the cheap even if you're not sure if you will go yet.

Whilst you can book Advance tickets for any train operator, the refund guarantee only applies to Advance tickets for Southern Railway trains.

My advise is make sure you don't collect tickets.. once tickets have be collected you can't get a refund, unless you paid £10.

if more than 1 person is travelling make sure that everyone is well enough to travel or you can't get a refund as you would have to collect all tickets..

I now purchase each journey for each passenger separately. Just in case plans change!
