Rights regarding cancelled wedding cars
bevee
I booked and paid a deposit for my two wedding cars on 18th July, today i got a letter saying they were fully booked, 41/2 months after i paid the deposit. Basically they sent me a cheque back for deposit and said good bye. I want to know what my rights are as these are the only cars in the area that are what i what. I did sign a contract stating that my deposit was non refundable so are the legally able to cancel the booking? Thanks in advance for any help.

well if looks like they double booked ( this happens) so they have cancelled yours and refunded your deposit.
what do you want them to do, if they have no cars available as they cant just pull cars out of thin air0 -
and its taken them 4 and a half months to realise this, the confirmed 3 times prior to the deposit that the date was free0

It sounds to me like you had a contract, and they are obliged to honour it. Tell them that you expect them to provide the service you paid them for. If they aren't willing to budge and you have to use a more expensive service as a result, you're within your rights to claim the difference in price from them.0

I think timbstoke could be correct on this one but I think I would be having a chat with a solicitor before doing too much.
OP why not think out of the box if you are really struggling? (Double Decker Bus, Horse and Carriage etc)0 -
Just a thought the fact they didn't cash the cheque might hinder the OP a little. OP hope you have written a few cheques since that one was dated.0

Your local paper would not miss a chance of a photo of a disappointed Bride to be all upset at this nasty company.
You wont get your wedding cars, but by God will you get revenge, they will be bankrupt in months...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Its happened !!!!!!, they cant supply the cars, some of the over reaction ie solicitors, newspapers is just bluddy ridiculous.
OP do you really want all this stress, you'll have enough on the run up to your wedding.
Just find some other company who will be glad of your custom and write a strong letter to the owner of the business who
has let you down.
Life's too short, some of us will be dead by the time your wedding comes around.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The one question I forgot was. When is the wedding? If it is tomorrow then I think you have a case but as McKneff bluntly puts it if it is next summer then just find someone else.
Oh dear long day the wedding is in July...........doh!0 -

what a load of rubbish.
the took the booking, but seems to have double booked then had cancelled and refunded deposit, so any contract is cancelled.
you can ask any wedding service provider ( cars, photographers etc.) and i can 100% guarantee that they have all double booked at somepoint.
they cannot provide cars if they dont have any available. at least they have let the OP know 8 months before wedding and not just 2 weeks notice.0
