hi guys just thought id mak people aware that some companies are refusing to correct wrong information on credit files.
according to the data protection act 1998 its up to the lender to remove the wrong information from a persons credit file if they were the ones who placed them inthe first place!
iv recently dealt with a company called carlyle finance who imposed a late mark on my credit file knocking off vital points. when i challenged them as it was infact a bank error and the bank wrote them a letter stating this they made a fuss but removed the late charge of £5.00 but told me it was down to me to get the late mark on my credit file removed. this information is incorrect.
iv had to complain to the governemnt and financial ombudman who have confirmed its the lenders responsibility. im also worried that there are other lenders doing this and we need to get these companies sorted as its not on that they are ruening our credit scores because the companies have wrong information or not trained properly!
i ther anyone els who has had a simular problem or story would lov to hear!
and sorry if im missing letter E my keyboard is on its way out
