EXPIRED M&S - A Symphony of Fizziness - £5.50

  • My order arrived at 8:15 this morning which was great - however I too have been sent 2 boxes of mixed sparkling wines rather than the Fizz which I ordered .... not too sure whether to complain or not as the sparkling set is marked as £15 so it looks as if I've had a more expensive item than the one I ordered and I simply do not have the time to be running round returning them to a store which is why I ordered home delivery in the first place.

will ring mns now and see what they say
  • The original item was valued at 11 pounds, the substitutes they sent cost 15 and 16 pounds, so it seems to me M&S took more orders than they could fulfill on the original offer and chose to send out replacements at a value that exceeds the original order - which to me seems fair enough and actually nice of them. It does avoid disappointment for a buyer and if it had happened to me would have made me feel good about the substitute. The prestige Cava alone is awesome!

I'd think twice before returning for refund - you paid 5 pounds, value 15 pounds ... seems a good deal to me!

Just my thoughts if you guys with substitutes are still not happy, just trying to smooth your annoyance x
  • I am happy with the "substitution" in terms of value - but I wanted the fizz as it was a Xmas stocking gift for DIL and one for me from hubby (yes I know buying my own pressie lol) and I rather fancied the cocktails and thought them more suitable & "young" for DIL. I'm an infrequent wine drinker but I do like cocktails I've got unopened bottles of Bollinger in the cupboard along with some Rose wines etc. so I would never have chosen to buy more sparkling wine which will probably also just sit there until I "fancy" it whereas the cocktails wouldn't have lasted 2 days :rotfl:

I'll be keeping these as I don't have an M&S close to me and it would take me close on half a day to make the trek to a store not to mention the petrol and parking costs once I got there, but I am still dissapointed.

    A reply from M&S:

Thank you for your email about your order for 'A Symphony Of Fizziness'. I am sorry you have received the 'Sparkling Selection' instead.

I am unsure as to why this has happened but I have passed on your comments to our packing team who will to their utmost to ensure this kind of mistake does not happen again. This will show as credit from M&S e-commerce within 2-5 days.

We are unable to offer an exchange. You would need to return the items that were sent by mistake and then re-order the cocktail mixes.

I understand it is quite a difficult item to return. However we can arrange a free collection to pick up these items which you will later be refunded for when we have received them.

You then have the choice to re-order the 'Symphony Of Fizziness' you had originally expected. Then when you receive this order we could refund you the delivery charge for your trouble.

Uhh, bit confusing. So am I getting an automatic refund, or do I have to return the incorrect items?
