Requesting an increase in credit limit

in Credit cards
I have a Halifax Clarity card, I have now had it 6 months. I have been purchasing on it and paying it off in full each month.
I'm going on holiday in just over a week and ideally would love to increase my small credit limit from £500 to something more, as I would like to use this card for spending out there, rather than exchanging my money into cash and getting a lower rate.
My question is - if I ask for a credit limit increase and it was accepted, how long does it take to be applied? If it takes 30 days, then I won't need it, and don't want to increase it unnecessarily. I haven't been able to find this out.

It could be applied immediately if you request it. The 30 days only applies to them selecting you for an increase, not you asking for one.0

Usually a credit limit increase would be immediate (or maybe next working day).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Hope you get the amt you need. After 1 year using my Clarity I asked for a credit limit increase from £600 to around £1k to give more leeway when hubby and I spend abroad, and the answer was 'No'; I had been flagged as a 'high risk customer' (never gone over my limit, always pay in full and on time, plus have a Halifax reward current act with a £100 OD). But 2 months later, even though my credit to income ratio was already 42%, got accepted for a NW CC with a 2K limit.
Go figure!0
