Electric Window's Broke/damaged ?-->Any Help or Advice Please?
Hiya :hello:,
I'm looking for some help & advice on a problem I have with my 'Passenger Electric Window' and I know  nothing about it (-:female: sorry.)
The make and model is a Nissen Primera 'S' Reg (1998ish)
(I'm a female driver who is willing & trying to learn about my car & looking after it & trying to find out more)
Last week during the cold spell, after de-icing the car, drove to nursery to drop the iccle 1 off. Whilst driving, I opened and closed the electric windows as I usually do while driving, then came home. Later in the morning, a Neighbour knocked to say my passenger window was open.
I went down to close it and found it was stuck and wouldnt open or close. I kept trying to open and close it using the power switch's to operate the electric window on the passenger side and then it seemed to slip down into the door.
After a friends son (only 15) came & offered his assistance,(which was very sweet)he advised me & did the following:-
-->Firstly he managed to get the glass window up out of the door and back onto the 'hindges / slots' that apparently holds the window in place.
-->However he advised that there were 3 of these 'hindges / slots' which have 3 sort of 'stickers / suckers' along the length that holds the glass window in 'place / position.'
--> He advised me that 2 of the 'stickers / suckers' were holding the glass window in place but the 1 nearest the wing mirror wasnt there or wasnt holding the glass in place, which was why it kept slipping that way when we were trying to close the window.
-->He also said to keep window closed until I get it fixed.
--> Unfortunatly while he helped and did the above, he pulled the inside part of the door, under the window, possibly the door panal out/hanging off to be able to do the above but couldnt push it back in as couldnt do it without force and didnt want to break it.
So now if you look at my car, you can see that the 'door part / partion' has been pulled away and Im worried that my iccle 1 could put his fingers somewhere and be hurt. I'm also scared that this could be easy access to thieves (not that i leave anything in car - but dont have a garage as live in block of flats)
Can anyone offer me some adivce on this please?
:question:1. The extent of the problem / damage that is or may have caused or could cause if its not fixed.
:question:2. Approx price quotes that it should cost to get my passenger electric window fixed. - (I cant afford to pay a lot.)
:question:3. The best places or named companies to go to, or enquire to get the correct work done at a reasonable price. - I live in Northampton.
:question:4. What do I ask for or say when I ring up and enquire about the cost of this fault / problem ? How do I describe it ?
:question:5. Could I claim this off my insurance ?
I would like to wish you all a very nice day, on this lovely morning and Thank You
for taking the time to read my problem.

What I understand to be the problem - (Although i'm no expert.)

(Words in 'italics' are what i have called the parts as i dont know what there correct term is)

call into a few garages and ask for a quote to fix it, chances are its a known problem on that brand of car
cost? well that depends on what car it is, probably 1 hrs labour and whatever parts it needs, the door panel should snap back on , maybe needing a few new clips
post up what make/model/age car it ....might get a more accurate answer then

Hiya,
Thank you for your reply. I will defentaly go to a few garages - do i have to ring them first or can i just turn up ?
And would you recommend the littler garages or the big company named garages ?
I forgot to write the important things like car make ect - Sorry been one of those months.
Its a Nissen Primera - S Reg (I think its 1998 ish)
The button which you press went a bit funny a few months ago as i put a post on this site a month or 2 ago as it felt as if it was sticking-the button, not the window/glass. But i never thought nothing to it.
Do you think it could be electrics ? As mt window and button seems fine i think ?
Thanks again.~~~~~~~~~~~~:kisses3: "In Raising Your Children;" :kisses3:"Spend Half As Much Money n Twice As Much Time."0 -

sounds to me like the window has come un attached from the mechanism...a fairly common problem really
id try a slection of local garages..smaller ones tend to be decent as long as you find a honest one, i wouldnt ring first , just turn up0
