Young Male Car Insurance

I know theres already multiple threads about young drivers and cheap insurance but this is more specific.
Im 23 year old male looking for a car checking insurance lowest i have got it £955 for a ford ka 1.3 NOW using confused.com and getting from Admiral. Does anyone know any car or company where i might get cheaper insurance from?
Or will it just be easyer calling different insurance companys seeing if they will match or beat the quote for me?

It really is a case of sitting with eBay open (loads of cars with their reg number on display), comparisson websites open and your phone. Then just spending time trying different car quotes and phoning around till you get your best price.

Unfortunately there is no simple answer apart from hack at it! a car that you'd expect to be more expensive could be cheaper because of safety factors, low claim rate against them, cheap parts to replace etc etc. Insurance doesn't just go off engine size.
Some things to look at though:
Add a parent / older person as a second driver
If you have a garage and drive, look at all parking quotes - drive, garage, street etc as parking on the street can sometimes be cheaper
How much is the car worth? if it's a £500 car you won't get anything back from the insurance if you crash it and have a £500 excess. So look at putting your excess for more than the car is worth (obviously if it's a cheap car)
Unfashionable cars are less of an attraction to younger people so premiums are often lower.

Thats cheaper than mine and im 4 years older than you!

I did exactly what the above poster said.
I found that the newer the car the cheaper it was, i ended up with a 5 year old 1 ltr corsa costing 1300 a year. If i went with a 6 year old corsa it was about 400 more expensive.

There was an article recently in the Daily Mail maybe 2 months ago which was research done by confused. com . It listed the top 5 cheapest cars to insure and the 5 most expensive. I was looking as I need to get quotes for 18 yrs old family member. Ford KA was number 1 or 2 from memory.
I can't post the link but its on the daily mail motoring webpage if you search for for top 5 cheapest cars to insure and the article is dated 22 Sep 2011. Hth.
