MBNA PPI saga continues

Hi everyone. Received a letter from MBNA saying thanks for my recent enquiry but their records indicate that I requested Payment Protection Cover during a telephone call in October 1999. So they seem to think that is the end of it! I am sure that even if I did agree to it at the time it was only as a result of the person on the phone saying that I had to have it (or strongly advised me to take it). I am going to write back to them again - how do you think I should play it? It is unlikely that I would have just signed up for it just like that as I didn't have it on any other accounts and always thought it was a bit of a con.

Any advice as always much appreciated.
:)

    Hi

Then I would write back and ask them to provide you with the copy of any evidence they have of the phone call.
They obviously have these details then, and if they refuse to give this evidence then I would wonder why.;)

    Do not give up.
Ask them to reconsider, and say that you were more than likely to have been pressurised, so unless they can literally prove otherwise in concrete then you feel you do have a case.
Ask that they let you know by 14 days, good luck.:)

  • Thanks, that's really useful - will do as you say and write back asking for evidence etc.

Will let you know how I get on!

    Thanks again

MBNA like playing silly !!!!!!s, if this is their "final response" save the yourself the aggravation of writing to them over and over, as they'll just keep sending you the same sh*tty responses, just take it to the ombudsman. They did the same with me, they said i "ticked the box" for PPI when I applied for their card back in 2005, asked for evidence which they never provided, after a year of going back and forth, went to the ombudsman, who has now upheld my complaint against them
Debt free and staying that way!
