Paying monthly for car insurance during DRO

Another quick question, can I pay monthly for car insurance while going thru a DRO? It would be over £1000 for the year unfortunately as I haven't been driving for long yet.

Should I get insurance before applying for a DRO, even though it would be another debt, or keep my car off road til DRO gets approved and then look for cover? I don't need to drive for work now, but I would if I get a job out in the countryside (in a hotel) that I applied for.

Hi, I had an IVA which ended a year ago and I never had a problem getting car insurance and I always pay monthly for mine. I can't see them not insuring you as you need insurance by law.

I would get the insurance before your DRO just so you know how much you'll be paying for your budget. You shouldnt have any trouble after the DRO has started because you're gonna have to renew in the year anyway.
As said, make sure your car is worth less than £1000 (if younger than 51? plate check it on Parkers, if it is older than that im sure it's fine - unless it's a classic porsche or something...
  • My car is worth about £500. Hard to be exactly sure cause it's a grey import, but that's what i've seen others of the same age selling for. I know I'm allowed to keep the car, but I was worried about insurance being revoked because as you said, it's a credit agreement.
