a simple search on paypal brought this up:
"Privacy and Security - Protection - Seller Protection Policy
Can I deliver to unconfirmed addresses?
Yes, but unconfirmed addresses are not covered under the Seller Protection Policy."
and also...
"My Account Profile - Miscellaneous
Why is my postal address unconfirmed?
PayPal uses an Automated Verification system to verify credit card billing addresses that are entered in the system. An address is Confirmed if it is associated with a credit card or can be independently verified by PayPal. Gift recipient addresses and addresses associated with a Switch/Maestro or Solo debit card cannot be confirmed. Currently, our system cannot verify most non-US credit card billing addresses."
please take note of the last sentence!!
maybe u could explain to the seller your concerns. however, 64 postitive feedback over 4 years is a good sign (to me, anyway) that this buyer is trusted!!0 -
being verified and having a confirmed address are two different things.
you can ask your buyer to confirm his address with paypal, it's very simple to do, if he is genuine, he should understand your need for protection, if you explain that it's the only way paypal allow. It is a lot of money and you need to cover yourself.
To be perfectly honest, you should state in all high value listings that you will only accept paypal from a confirmed address.
Ebay/ paypal should get their act together and make everyone have a confirmed address, fraud would become much less likely as a result."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
I never send items out to an unconfirmed address. I always refund the payment stating the reason for the refund as being they have an unconfirmed address.
Quite a few people get confused about being verified with paypal and having a confirmed address. Everyone I have done this to has then confirmed their address and repaid. One person was unable to confirm their address but then sent me a cheque instead.
I do tell the people that this is to cover us both should anything untoward happen with the transaction.0 -
i just have sent an email to the buyer telling about my concerns.lets see what does he say.
how long does it take to confirm the address?0 -
It's usually very quick and simple to confirm an address: user gets a 4 digit code from paypal, requests a phone call - paypal phones user at home, user inputs the 4 digit code, voila! User has confirmed he does indeed live at the address associated with the account. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I'm having problems trying to make my work address a confirmed address. A seller is asking me to do it. However I have no idea.
I checked the help section in Paypal and it says you can only confirm a non credit card linked address if you have a US account (?)
Here is what Paypal help says:
You can confirm your postal address in three ways:
1. Add a credit card to your PayPal account. By adding a credit card to your account, PayPal can attempt to confirm your address with your credit card company. If the credit card company is not able to confirm your address, you may be asked to complete the Expanded Use Enrolment process to activate your credit card. Your address can be confirmed after that process is complete. Note: Not all credit card companies are able to confirm addresses.
2. Apply for PayPal Buyer Credit. If approved, the address on your application will be a confirmed address.
3. Complete Alternative Address Confirmation. This process takes several days and is only available for US accounts. To learn more, log in to your PayPal account and visit the Alternative Address Confirmation page.
So what do I do?

UPDATE
I've called Paypal to confirm my work address and since I don't have a credit card or bill going to this address I wont be able to do so.
I wonder how other people have managed to do this just by getting Paypal to call them at their work address?

does the seller accept payment other than Paypal....0

I've already paid. She told me this after I paid.
Paypal was the most convenient and quickest. Most importantly I felt I was covered by it too.
So I suppose there's no way to confirm my work address in any other way?0 -
My address is confirmed with paypal fine.0
