Halifax clarity won`t work abroad in Egypt.

I have had lots of trouble with my Nationwide card in Oz but my Clarity was ok, if you use Nationwide Flex account even though it's a current account you need to press ' credit card' on the machine.

Its not a good idea to be using the Nationwide Flex account blue Visa card any more overseas though as you now get charged 2% commission and £1 flat rate withdrawal fee worldwide.

For that reason you should only be using a Nationwide credit card overseas and even then only in the EU and EEA since elsewhere in the world you will be charged 1% foreign exchange rate levy, even on the credit card. By contrast the Clarity card is always exchange rate fee free.

The new Nationwide Select card is commission free everywhere, just got mine. But no use for cash as it charges for ATM withdrawals.
