I get my litter from wilko's or morrisons. Not sure about tesco's I don't think they sell it (don't go there often so I forget). It's not the clumping litter but clear/blue crystals more like this(although it's a different brand):

I think you're right - I haven't seen it at Tescos. I'll look at Asda next week. I don't often go to Wilkinsons as it's in the shopping centre in Town, which charges for parking.
Asda refunds my parking pound if I shop there, and Sainsburys - well, I normally make a bit on parking there! But I don't go there very often as the organic range is too tempting, and there's a limit to my will power!

I know what you mean about ending up with more cats than you planned, Iused to have 6! I'm hoping the will power will hold out at CPL too, and I'll just come back with one - and I'm planning on taking out pet insurance this time too.

Thanks for this tip - it will come in very handy.
I'm hoping to collect my new cat from Cat's Protection League in about 2 weeks.
I've been catless for 11 months since my 3 elderly cats all died over a period of about a year - I thought I couldn't bear to have any more ( I used to have 6) but life just isn't the same without a cat around the house.

    I'm counting the days!

Marks & Spencer seems quite good for pet insurance although I just tried getting a quote and it seems that the older the cat is the cheaper the insurance is.
Also have other conditions such as the cat can't be for breeding or business.

e.g. I put in 2yr 01month old (as an example) and it was £62.12 per year. not bad for about £5 a month and this is with no excess to pay which is great as you tend to get charged under £50 more often than not and you can get this back with' no excess'.
When I put in the cat being 10 months old the quote is £79.41 per year with no excess.

Other than that I have heard you can get free pet insurance if you are on benefits apparently, although this may depend where you live I'm not sure.

If anyone knows of any better pet insurance deals than M & S let me know!

(Couldn't help notice also they may have made recent changes in their policy and don't insure pit bulls, sharpei, wolf hybrid or any dog registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.)

Don't know about that but the felix pack contains three free food sachets if you didn't already know.

OK - clearly have no will power at all! Visited CPL on Thursday, very quickly found a young female about 5 months who clearly wanted to come home with me, so I said I would take her, but then my attention was drawn to an old boy in the next pen who was clearly saying 'Pick me, pick me!'.

I mentioned that I would love to help out by taking an older cat, but couldn't afford the vet's bills. Evidently CPL go on covering the vet's bills for you if you take on an old cat - so, it seems I shall be having 2 cats. The young one has to be speyed before I can bring her home, so I'm hoping to pick them up today (Friday) or tomorrow.

Mosaic, I thought M&S was the best insurance too, - not sure I will need it for the good old boy, though - if CPL are covering bills? Or should I still do it in case he goes missing, because it gives you cover for advertising and a reward?

If you're on council tax benefit, you can take your pets to the PDSA for free treatment - my parents do this now, they're in their 80s and it's meant they could still afford to have a couple of CPL cats. You have to show them proof of being on benefit to get free treatment. I don't qualify, because I'm only working part time.

I am so looking forward to having cats around the house again :j

Hi, I'm am doing voluntary work(towards a new career) and on job seekers ..so I guess this qualifies too for the pdsa free treatment. But does this include any major operations? or just minor cheaper stuff? Also I wondered if you have to live in the same town as the pdsa? I live out in the sticks.

    Any help gratefully received.
