I can imagine what you're going through. A week after we moved in our new apartment my neighbours started renovating theirs. We had to live with the noise made by the drills day after day for 2 months. We didn't even have time to accomodate and feel like home. In the end, after a lot of phone calls we managed to convince the landlord to reduce the rent for those months in which we had to deal with the noise. I think we were really lucky though cause our landlord is extremely understanding.0

You can't. The guarantee will generally last the lifetime of the tenancy. Only if the LL agrees to release the guarantor from their commitment will this happen.0 -
Hi -I'm presuming that this is going on in the communal area/hallways of the building and not in your actual flat/property?
With 1 month left on the contract there is probably not a an awful lot you can really do in terms of witholding rent in a lawful manner etc but you might want to go to the council and complain to environmental health/noice pollution people and see if they can serve a noise order for you - you MAY be able to get the work stopped for a bit/quietened down or use it as ammunition to be released from you contract early but I wouldn't guarantee it.
The trouble is is it might take a while to get things rolling with environmental health and if you start witholding rent then things could get messy with guarantors and you being threatened with court etc.
