NTL have a freephone number, so the call was free also!
I find that hard to believe . I've been with NTL a while and they used to have a freephone no. for all customer enquiries (0800522000) , but recently they changed it (08454540000) , so now I have to pay to phone them if I have an enquiry or complaint , which personally I find unbeleivable , esp as it takes at least 20mins to get through .
NTL and Telewest are the same company by the way (will soon be changing its name to Virgin Digital)

They can charge you £500 a month if they want, it is then up to you to go with another supplier.
    I dont understand your gripe.
    You either.
    A) Pay the £5 and stay as you are.
    B) Move to DD and dont pay the £5.
    C) Change suplliers.

Yeah, well, I already explained why B and C aren't options and I was simply asking if there was a D) in terms of challenging their policy.

I'll try what Lottee suggests though and look seriously into Freeview once the roof gets fixed.

    Thanks all.
  • NTL and Telewest are the same company now so that wouldnt work

Sorry you find that hard to believe, but I'm hardly going to make it up am I? The freephone number is 150 from an NTL phone line. Maybe you should try that next time you call. That's the number I always use.
:D I am in the future you know...
...9 hours ahead to be exact !:D
