Prepaid credit/debit visa card

Hi,
I recently got a prepaid credit/debit visa card from Sony as part of their "cashback".
The card is chip and pin card and I able to use it online. However, I cannot withdraw money from ATM using the card but I will need to use pin when making purchase...
It's quite annoying that they give these prepaid credit/debit card instead of cash or check as it's cashback...not prepaid card back...
I have been googling and found someone suggesting to get those prepaid card that allows you to withdraw money from ATM and that you can top up using the prepaid credit/debit card.
Anyone know is there a way to convert these prepaid card into cash?
Sorry, if this is the wrong forum.
Thanks,
Stephen

No. Use it for purchases instead of cash.0

I know it doesn't work for credit cards, but have you tried buying something and getting cashback? Most supermarkets offer it.0

Hi,
I haven't try it yet to get a cashback when purchasing. I'm going to try it at Tesco tomorrow.
Thanks,

Hi,
The Tesco near my place doesn't do cashback, no idea why may be it is too small...However, I'm able to use the Prepaid card to pay my credit bill so that solve the problem.0 -
I think most prepay cards that work in ATM's will charge you for the withdrawal. I applied for the Orange prepaid mastercard and I think it has a 2.75% withdrawal fee, however 0% on purchases in store, online etc. I wouldn't ever use it to draw money out though, they are designed to be an alternative to cash (and I have 2 current accounts anyway, one of which is purely for emergencies and ironically has a bigger overdraft than my main account).0

I got a prepaid cashback card from Sony too as part of a camera deal.
Seems a complicated faff actually but there you go.
Despite rumours that you can use it to get cash at an ATM, you cannot.
Buy some essentials with it in the supermarket.0
