well......I think a lot of people are very good at making lemonade. I think really people have to be to keep going sometimes. I agree that the best satisfaction comes from within...being content is harder at times than being happy.
I think some personalities are just very driven, and beng ''content'' would leave them restless and frustrated.
For all the doo and gloom, things haven't got so very much worse in society. Sure, we've have some marches but we don't have hoardes more on the street or starving (not here anyway) and I think much of what is being trimmed atm has been our jam, not our bread and butter.0

Why do so many people find it so hard to get this whereas to some of us this is the most obvious thing in the world?Thrugelmir wrote: »I'm readjusting. Done the hamster wheel for many many years. Often unpaid. Was it worth it. Frankly no. As contentment comes from within.I think....0

Surprising results, given the last few years.
I don't think it really is that surprising. Of course, people who have been made redundant or have lost their house will be understandably unhappy with life. But for most people happiness doesn't come or go with a 3% payrise or how Greece is doing economically. It's the little things in life that make you happy.0

I got a letter the other day telling me that the ONS were sending me around to interview "the residents" about "life in the uk". "Angus" wants my phone number so he can arrange a convenient time to come round for a chat.
The ONS data is compiled from the weirdos who actually reply to these letters and like to spend their spare time chatting with Angus...0

What does what you pay for something have to do with happiness?0

I find it a strange outcome, but there is no accounting for the way people think.
Personally I think this country has become selfish, negative, hateful, uncaring and envious. I am too old to leave but I really wish I had emigrated when I was younger. I am not unhappy with my personal lot but but its not really a country I would want to grown old in if I were relatively poor.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
