Three-quarters of us are satisfied with our lives!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15989841
About three-quarters of people in the UK are satisfied with life, according to a study to measure well-being by the Office for National Statistics.

Surprising results, given the last few years.

The survey took place between April and August this year. I wonder if it would be changing in this increasingly full of doom and gloom world.

People in Oldham happy with their lives?

Seems like the survey could be a quick straw poll on mental illness as well.

uh-oh.... have I just done a Clarkson? Someone shoot me.

Little point worrying about matters you can't influence.

Maybe with "less" the world would be a happy more relaxed place.

As in reality we can get by with relatively little.

Nah, people are much thicker skinned up here :D

Actually, maybe it isn't thicker skin, but layers of dirt and grease being mistaken for skin?

If three-quarters of the Civil Servants currently employed by the Office of National Statistics went on permanent strike, would we notice the difference?

I agree. We would probably be a lot happier. But that's such a long way from where most of us have got to in our expectations, it would take a major readjustment.

Maybe part of my happiness is the fact I am emigrating to Manchester.

As it is the mortgage offer arrived today and the survey is all clear (well a couple of none urgent expected problems anyway).

Modern consumers work their spheres off to earn enough money to buy all the stuff they need to 'get away from it all'!

I'm readjusting. Done the hamster wheel for many many years. Often unpaid. Was it worth it. Frankly no. As contentment comes from within.
