i am insured by Kwik Fit for my house, my renewal came in, £322 incl. charges for paying monthly, a whopping 32%, so i decide to look around and found several all around the the 180 -£200 mark, so i ring kwik fit wan me to stay and put me on hold and come up with £194 and i can pay monthly at no charge, do they try it on at first, same happened with my mobile, but vodaphone came up with a discount.

I would cancel on principle. I was with direct line and they put the price up a fair bit. Got better online quotes
phoned to cancel and they matched the price.
Following year they did it again, Big increase. Online quotes came out a lot cheaper.
Phoned to cancel, Ahh youve been with us many many years i will pass you onto the retentions team.
No thanks, Just cancel the renewal. I dont want to spend 1/2 an hour on the phone when you already have a
much cheaper price on the screen but want to see how much i will pay before i cancel.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You made me smileJust what I would do and what so many people should. Insurance companies treat people like dirt.

They all do it, hoping that you will pay through inertia, and from what I can see they are ALL difficult to get claims paid.
I've just spent a few hours looking at the reviews of all the companies on a comparison website, and they all got the same score through trying to avoid paying. I've come to the conclusion that it's no good tying to judge by service, so although I'm a great believer in "you get what you pay for" I'm just going to go by price.0 -
but it is wrong practice, if like many people i just accepted it then i would be paying through the nose for something, it is wrong and on that principle i am going to cancel it.0

No you don't, the 7 day rule is Distant Selling Reg. does not apply to insurance policies (I found out to my cost). They work under FSA rules and you will have little or no protection if you cancel even before the policy begins.
The Home Emergency Assistance add-on to Insurance Policy only covers your Boiler breakdown if you have had an annual service and maintained the boiler to manufacturer recommendations. This will cost more than a Breakdown Policy with Homeserve or dare I say BG. The Home Emergency add-on cover is general an absolute waste of space if you are looking for Boiler Cover, be warned.0 -
