Is my oven flame ok?

I've just moved into a new home and the previous owners left their rather swanky Rangemaster all gas standalone oven. It looks relatively new (the grill has never been used I reckon!), but when we use the oven the flame looks quite yellow at the top and wavey and quite uneven - i.e one side is about 8 inches high whilst the other side is about 4 inches high. It also smells "funny" as in, like when you use gas camping stoves and makes the kitchen smell of, not gas, but like you are burning gas! (this sounds stupid I know, since I am burning gas, but I dont reckon the whole kitchen should smell like this!)
I don't know if there is anything wrong with it, it works, ok, but I am used to all electric and when I did have a gas oven years ago, I never noticed any smell or weird flames. Here is a picture of the flame in normal at temperature mode:

Am I worried about nothing or does this not sound right?
Thanks.

Just get it serviced if you are unhappy and/or send the photo to Rangemaster and see what they suggest.0

Agreed. Get it serviced for peace of mind.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Hi.
In the meantime don't use it.
When you get in touch with Rangemaster get them to come out and service it. Or find an independant RGI qualified to do cookers.
Oh, and in the meantime don't use it.

looks like the burner jets need cleaning.
should be an even blue flame.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks all. It's probably ok, but it just doesn't seem right to me. Will get it serviced.0

Its NOT ok. That flame will be pouring out CO into the room. You really must not use it until its been repaired by a qualified engineer. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0

yellow flames in an oven produce carbon monoxide, ( c o )
which will put you to sleep and kill you,
your oven burner/injector needs unblocking and cleaning,
now !
the only place you should have yellow flames in your house,
is on a coal/log effect gas fire that is specificly designed to
produce yellow flames safely,in a swept chimney of the corect,
size and the corect terminal,
yellow flames in a cooker/boiler need immediate attention,
yellow flames on a radiant fire need immediate attention,
get it sorted :mad:0 -
Thanks all. Dont worry, I asked the question because I thought it just wasn't right. I have only used it once the other day and that was with the kitchen door wide open, which leads directly to the garden. I will definitely get it looked at and serviced, or replaced if deemed too dangerous.
Thanks again for confirming what I thought.0 -
ps. your burner will not fire after cleaning
probably !
leave it overnight or use
canned air0 -
That is NOT ok. I would suggest you dont use it and have the cooker serviced by a competent person.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
