The manufacturer assuming you still have the receipt or have registered it on Delonghis website.
I hope you have the paperwork with that 25 year guarantee on it too as I find it a very long guarantee for such a thing."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Manufacturer's guarantee or Argos guarantee?
I think I know the answer, but answering that question may lead you to the answer to your question.
Having said that, you also have Sale of Goods Act protection with Argos.0 -
What outcome are you looking to achieve? Repair, replacement or partial refund? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

I've only ever seen DeLonghi offer a 25 year guarantee on cookware (pots and pans etc) never on electrical items...
It's usually 2 years max on toasters, kettles etc etc...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

usually manufacturer after the first 12 months, but we had a full refunds on a metal apex shed from argos after 5 years.
with us we were goping to replace the shed due to the amount of rust, but when we looked at the argos catalogue it stated 10 yrs anti rust guarantee, at first argos told us to contact manufacturer who we did and all the manufacturer did was say they sould send some touch up paint, they would not give me an email address or fax numder so i could send then photos of the rust which covered the whole roof and part of the sides, well touch up paint arrived and was a joke 4 posts smaller than paint tester pots. so contacted argos and then asked for the photos which i sent and they was very helpful. the shed cost £120 at first they offer £20 which i sauid they advertised a 10 yr anti rust guarantee and after 5 yrs the shed was riddles inside and penetration inside which is half of the guarantee, so £20 was not accepatable. they then said they could not replace the shed due to the length of time we had it, i told them that they clear advertise anti rust 10 yr guarantee and we have the reciept showing it is only 5 yrs old, so they are false advertisng. at this point they offer a full refund as long as we dismantled the shed for them to take away, which we did.0 -
The long warranty is from the manufacturer and so you could go to them and claim under that
The Sales of Goods Act protection would be between you and the retailer and so you could take it back to the retailer and argue with them over the "reasonable life" clause.

I too am surprised they guarantee something like a toaster for 25 years.
Come back and let us know how it goes OP!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
According to DeLonghis website their toasters only have a standard 1 Year guarantee. Though your product may indeed have a longer one.

Try phoneing them and asking. (Use Noto0870 to get a free/cheaper number than their 0845 one)0 -
Are you sure it's a 25 year guarantee? Thats a massive amount of time for an electrical product, I wouldn't expect that on a toaster I'd paid £1000 for!0

Interesting how the OP has not returned at all, and has only one post (the OP) to their name.0
