I'll start with Branston relishes.
Down from 485g to 335g.
Slightly cheaper at Tesco but not enough to account for the difference in size.

There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

This thread has just reminded me of one of my all time favourite MSE threads....
Innocent Smoothies have lost their innocence - weights and measures trickery

I had a Twirl today (the chocolate bar, not the dance movement) and was struck by how much smaller they are now. Not sure of the exact size, but definitely shorter than they were when they first came out.0

I swear the burgers at McDonalds have halved in size over the last yr.0

With inflation food manufacturers have two options:
1) Decrease the size of the product, keeping the price the same.
2) Increase the price, keeping the product the same size.
Guess which one they opted for?0 -

I've said this before and some ponce quoted figures from a website at me to show the Big Mac hasn't reduced in size in the last 20 years or so, but I still don't believe it. Way smaller than they used to be.
Maybe you/your hands have grown so they appear to be smaller to you? I remember looking at things years ago and thinking they were big but now the same things seems small...the size may have changed but it's also very possible that my perceptions have changed.
Also, given the choice of getting a little less for my £1 or not being able to afford something because it has stayed the same size but increased in price with inflation, I'd rather have a little less - particularly for treats - do we really need massive tins of chocolates or big chocolate bars?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Possibly it is just a case of us getting bigger and imagining things are getting smaller.....
I remember when I was a child a 10p coin used to seem really big, and then all of a sudden, even overnight, it felt like it had gotten smaller.
This happened around 1992 when I was 11 years old. As people know there is a big growth spurt at that point, so it was just a case of my hands getting bigger and the coin feeling smaller.......0 -
