Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Although your income is low, it is worth being clear what are the personal and family minimum incomes required to pay tax in Spain today.

( For 2007 in Spain the personal minimum figure, which in general amounts to €5,050, increases to €5,950 when the taxpayer is over 65, and to €7,050 when the taxpayer is over 75.

In addition there is a family minimum figure of:
    a. €900 per year for each ascendant over 65 forming part of the taxpayer’s household who is dependent on the taxpayer and whose annual income does not exceed €8,000; the minimum increases to €2,000 when the ascendant is up to 75.
    b. €1,800 for the first single descendents under 25 forming part of the taxpayer’s household; €2,000 for the second single descendent, €3,600 for the third single descendent, and €4,100 for any more such descendents)
