My car insurer has offered me money!

Options
I was involved in an accident over 6 weeks ago, and despite the fact the third party admitted fault to her insurer the following day, my insurer has dragged it's feet over sorting out my claim. I don't like sitting back and waiting, so they've had numerous 'phone calls from me!

This week I got so fed up that I lodged a formal complaint, which was recorded on my file. The next day a supervisor rang me up and apologised for the poor service and admitted that I had not been ringing, nothing would have happened. There have been delays at all stages, so I've been VERY unlucky. She calculated that my claim had been delayed by 10 days and offered me £10 a day (£100 total) as compensation.

I had rung to try and get it sorted, not because I was expecting any money, so I very pleasantly surprised.

I thought I'd share this with others, in case there are people out there experiencing the same delays. It obviously pays to formally complain!

Ack, they will probably break all inter-insurer agreements and illegally claim the money back from the other insurers anyway :)

Why don't you settle direct with the third party insurer if they have admitted liability?

Because my insurance company told me it would be quicker if I did it with them and that it would mean I'd get a hire car for longer.

It has been a pain as it's dragged on so long, but hey - I got £100 out of them!

And it gives you the protection of the FOS which you dont get with dealing directly with the TPI
