car problems.

I bought (finance) in may a 08 reg polo with 4500 miles from vw dealer. now has 14,500 still not many

So far it has been to the garage/work shop for:

Air con fix. may
Banging noise june (told bolt loose tightened)

Banging noise still July suspension problem (not bolt apperantly!!) paid £35 to fix originally wanted £210. Not in warrenty as too many miles.

Dec Window switch broken ie elec windows go up and when they like!!!!! fix under warrenty
and saftey lamp on dash comes on all the time apperently loose wire to altenator. wont fix under warrenty

Now am i entitled to feel a little annoyed? is this starting to become a consumer rights issue. Car not fit for purpose/not of merchantable quality can i exchange it for another one?
still only 6 months after i bought it.

Any guidance would be gratefully recieved

You would be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund -- effectively their choice. This is under Sales of GoodsAct, the terms of the warranty may differ. So if the fault is inherent (and not down to wear and tear or age isn't a factor) you would be entitled to a rememdy, but pretty much cannot demand a particular rememdy if it is not cost effective for the seller.

I'm not sure though the issues you mention are significant enough to consider it not fit for purpose or not of satisfactory quality. The issues are (although inconvenient and annoying) quite small. Also the fact you can drive the car and it is not unsafe means you cannot claim not fit for purpose -- afterall that is infact the purpose of the vehicle, so be able to get you from A to B safely (yourdriving technique aside mind ;)).
