Egg card PPI refusal advice

I know I am probably wasting my time but I thought I would ask on here before I give up. I have been informed that my complaint has not been upheld for the following reasons.
I purchased the insurance through the Egg website on 03 October 2003.
"Our online sales process:
1) Does not require you take repayment protection insurance as a condition of your card.
2)Does not provide an advisory service.
3)Required you to positively confirm that you wished to purchase this policy during the online application
4)Provided full terms and conditions of the policy and requested you read them before submitting."
I obviously dont remember doing this and genuinely didnt need this insurance. Do I just give up or soldier on?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hi, i had the same result from Egg.
I bought online in 2001, so the refused my claim. I sent to FOS & Egg changed their minds & made goodwill gesture & agreed to refund in full with interest.
Just waiting for payment now:j0 -
Thanks for the reply. Did they refuse you on the same grounds as me? Did you tell them you were going to the financial ombudsman or did the ombudsman contact them?
ps/ I also neglected to mention(on here and on my complaint form) that I had several months on the sick with a broken foot and during the time I had this card and I didnt claim anything(mainly because I was unaware I was covered). I assume this will strengthen my claim? Cheers0 -
Hi yeah same reasons. I applied online & ticked the ppi box?
I sent details to FOS, they will need your final response letter from Egg also.
Sounds like that would strengthen your claim yes!0 -
Thanks a lot
. i have e-mailed Egg and told them of my intention to contact the ombudsman. I will send a letter in the morning. Appreciate the replies:) 0 -
I had exactly the same letter. I spoke to the FOS yesterday and they said they would send me the relevant forms and I will need to send them off along with the final response from egg.
Its really cheeky how egg hid this in the application. I would of never knowingly applied for PPI. Also I think the fact that they say that they dont provide an advisory service gives a good case for complaint.
I was in full time education at the time and had a job 1 day a week, so I doubt the PPI would of even covered me.
Good luck with your complaint.0 -
Can anyone tell me how long you have to wait after writing to the FO? And is there anyone else who is in the same situation as me and has been successful after applying to the FO after initially being turned down ? Cheers0

Received the exact same letter from egg today. Will fight on as I said to them....why would I have chosen PPI on a card online yet refused PPI on your loan on the phone? The answer in my eyes?? A pre ticked box!!!!!
Keep fighting the fight!!!0
