Buildings and Contents insurance after claim

We had to make a claim in August 2006 and works were actually carried out in August 2009 because our neighbouring property had subsidence and this in turn affected our wall. We have remained with the same insurer, AA, but in the summer the payments doubled! We have tried to seek insurance elsewhere but LV said the underwriters wouldn't take us on and we have now tried AVIVA but have been told that we would need to supply a Structural Engineers report. Both companies have said that we have not been declined. Has anyone been in the same position? Were you able to get insurance? If so, where?

Unfortunately as you now have to say your property/ neighbourhood has suffered from movement you are effectively toxic and most insurers will run a mile from you.
Your generally left with options like your current insurers, your mortgage providers preferred supplier and the few broker based schemes that will take on "unusual" risks - none will be cheap0 -
Just to clarify - our claim just covered the necessary repairs to the wall but our property did not subside.0

What peril was the claim lodged against is not subsidence?
The problem is most insurers either ask questions to ascertain land movement or state they are making assumptions as per the below:
Unfortunately you cannot accept this assumption as you have had your land impacted by subsidence.Your home (including your land) has not been affected by subsidence or structural movement and is not in an area subject to subsidence0
