How do I backup my laptop !!!

Hi all, I have just bought an external hard drive and want to do a system backup and save it to my new drive, I have never done this so any help would be appreciated.

My acer laptop came with about 5 CD's will this be what I need to restore my system if it ever goes down or would you also do a backup? XP disk not included in disks.

Don't have a backup option in system tools !!!!

Do any say restore disk on them, or something similar.

I would always do an image backup, as you will accumulate files you want to keep, and configuration changes as you use it.

The link on how to install microsoft backup is in my first link.. not as good as a disk image though..

Try driveimagexml, if you want to do a quick backup, it's free.

Yes I have 3 that say recovery disk on them if that helps
