Short term contents insurance?

Hi
I've just had an offer accepted on a house and hope to move in a couple of months. The problem I have now is that my current contents insurance (on a rented house) is up for renewal in 2 weeks.
The company I'm with now charge a fairly hefty 'admin fee' to cancel - so much so I will get hardly any money back.
I don't really want to pay for 12 months of insurance when I probably need less than 3.
Can you get short term insurance that doesn't cost the earth? Or is there another way around this I haven't thought of?
Thanks.

You could be best contacting a broker to sort it out for you, they will know of a few probably.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Why not just take out annual cover and then change the address on the policy when the time comes?0

Most companies charge an admin fee if you change any details and that can be like 2 months payments with some companies.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Some charge less for an amendment than they do for cancellation. Some charge nothing if you do the change online.0
