Options
help just been stung with a £701 bill from orange as i used my internet abroad even when i connected to the wifi in the hotel which was 90% of the time it costs to connect to it?? when it said free wifi?

Orange are trying to sort something out for me and i have got natwest to bounce the funds back to us as i have no money left in the account for food or electric luckily all my other direct debits have been paid thank god, but jesus christ im still in shock from checking my online bank account this morning

my orange internet account i have unable to get onto for months now as we hadnt had internet access at home due to a burglary just before we went on holiday, im cant log in now as their system has crashed grrrrrrrrrrr need advise on what i can do???

my contract ends on boxing dayand was going to go pay as you go as i dont use enough mins or texts, if anything i use 90 mins and 100 text a month and thats as a maximum so whats the point in me being in another contract??

  • Did you turn off roaming? if you have a smart phone a lot of the apps will still connect to the internet to update, such as Facebook etc. You never realise when you're in the UK as it'll be part of your data plan.
It seems to happen more often with iPhones; it won't help with the bill but it could explain the charges.
  • thanks for your reply i have a htc wildfire so works in a similar way with apps etc i think this is where ive made a bad decision. i just came off the phone to them and they have been very helpful and have helped me no end, cant tell you what they have done for me but they have made me a very happy customer, i just didnt kick off as soon as they answered the phone to me i was calm and polite just goes to show if you are nice and explain and you get the right customer service assistant you will be looked after.

ive also been with orange for 5 years+ and never missed a payment xx

Thanks for replying anyways all sorted now heart attack over

  • Very true! people do tend to phone them and kick off and then come on here complaining about them... Then they wonder why they got crap service.

I've been with Orange for at least 12 years (that's just going off one phone I can remember owning)and never had any issues with them. Any problems I might have had, have been sorted out straight away and it's probably because i don't start shouting and blaming them for everything.
  • yes, i used to work in customer service but with eon and it really feels horrible being shouted at all day so i get it, if im not happy i politly ask for a manager and go from there.
monday i did this with bgas as they owed me £15 on my gas card and still hadnt been put on there, i spoke to smeone in india who spoke to me like i was thick so i asked for a manager, she said ahhh why? i said because i have done your job and your customer service needs improving i am not happy with the reason but therefore i would like it confirming by a manager what you have told me is true, would you believe i got a manager the next dayand he said he was very sorry he couldnt speak to me the day before and to top my cardup with £5 and put the card in the meter...........i did and there was £20 on my card.

I'm amazed that people dont seem to understand that if you start off on the offensive and shouting and ranting you are far less likely to get anywhere than if you are polite and calm.

And this probably demonstrates what can be done as most of these type of threads dont end up with a very happy outcome. Top marks to dom300186 :)

I have never been rude to a customer service operator in my life. That would be despicable behaviour. I would not expect nor permit it and as such do not exhibit it or condone it. Regardless of this, I have had Orange staff (multiple) SCREAM at me and make personal remarks. I have ALWAYS complained, emailed, spoke to Line managers and nothing but token 'thank you for reporting this' has ever resulted from my complaints.

I got my first place in 1997 and Orange are the only service related providers to engage in such disgusting behaviour.

  • Glad you have had a good result. I thought it was bad enough when I was in Portugal, checking facebook (like you do ;) ) and after 2 days got a text from 02 that I'd used £20 in data roaming!! Luckily I switched it straight off and that was that. I would have died with a £700 bill!!!!

Smartphone + Call recording + social site such as facebook* and youtube, job done.
Email a link to the recording, or the actual recording itself to every named person in the company you can find, even better.
