We're going to Venice and Bardolino for our Honeymoon in early May. Does anyone have some good suggestions for places to see and eat?
We're planning on some hiking once we get to Bardolino, but other than that we've got nothing special planned.

You don't say how long you're going to be there which makes a difference to the responses. If you're there for a week, those two visits alone, plus staying around the lake may be enough. Most of the towns around the lake are worth a visit - and you get to them by boat, of course, stopping off and on as you will. Some towns are visited more often than others, so look at the timetables carefully."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

Whilst in Venice, try to get away from the crowd by having lunch ot dinner on one of the islands surrounding the place, all accessible via "vaporetto" or water buses. A mere 20mn "drive" away and prices drop, quality improves and you find yourself amongst locals. Having a bottle of Proseco at the terrace of such a place can be the souvenir of a lifetime. Enjoy.0

At Lake Garda
Get a ferry boat to visit some of the other towns (e.g. Limone, malcesine, riva del garda).
Go up Monte baldo at Malcesine on the cable car for great views.
Tandem paraglide from monte baldo
Hire a speedboat (£40 for one hour) - fantastic !!
Go for a swim in the lake (buy some plastic shoes for £5 as it's gravelly - the dap ones are best as they don't come off).
If you like history the visit the castel at Malcesine (you can't miss it).
Shop (leather belts, bags, clothes, shoes) - I like Malcesine best.
Eat
Go to one of the markets (I think there's one on Saturdays at Malcesine).
Visit a vineyard (but be aware that these trips are for selling purposes).0 -
A trip to the Dolomites from Lake Garda - you will feel on top of the world.0

Sorry folks!
We're in Venice for three nights and Lake Garda for 11.0 -
Do a boat trip round Venice just to say you've done it - then walk !
There are some beautiful sights around the back streets, the restaurants and shops are much cheaper than those on the waterfronts and the main tourist trails.
Some of the outlying islands are worth a visit too.0 -
Venice,
If you want a cheap Gondola trip, there are three ferry points across the Grand Canal - look for a sign saying "traghetti" or similar. Last time, cost was about 1euro, hiring a gondola was around £50 per hour - but what the hell, it's your honeymoon!
Catch the Vaporetti to Murano - Venetian glass production and showrooms - expensive but interesting traditional patterns. You can eat on Murano too.
