Increased credit limit-Post Office CC.

I stoozed couple of grands from a Post Office credit card which I then transferred to a savings account. Eventually I paid off the card & I was about to close the account. Today I received a letter from the Post Office saying that my credit limit has been increased by £2000 since my balance is zero. Has anybody experienced this before please?

Is this a con to make me stay with them?. Do you think they will be prepared to improve the offer..such as extending the 0% balance transfer offer?

I don't understand this..credit card companies are very funny. Egg does not want to increase me credit limit at all & I've been them quite a few years wheareas the Post Office is prepared to do so, despite the fact that I've been only been with them for couple of months.

Its not a con as such, but they are definitely trying to keep you as a customer - probably because you have been good and paid them back!
I had my credit card upgraded without any notification, a new one just came through the post with a letter advising I was being upgraded as I was a 'valuable customer' or something along those lines!

I doubt very much they will do anything more to improve the offer, however there will be no harm in ringing them to let them know that you will be closing the account soon - just see what they say!

I don't think it's a con. My PO card 6 mos offer will also ends next month which I'm going to pay in full this month.

I don't think it's a bad idea to keep this card as it is commision free abroad and would be a good partner with my Nationwide flexaccount.

I would also definitely try to give them a ring if they will give me such offer of increasing my credit limit and extend my 0% BT with no fee otherwise if no good offers i'll keep my credit limit to a minimum for overseas transaction.;)
  • Thanks Bisoy & Quincifer. I'll give them a call & see what happens.

I think I'll keep the card as it is good value for overseas transactions.
