hi,
i've just bought a cable that connects my fairly old laptop to my new tv but it only transfers pictures and not sound, which is a bit infuriating as my laptop (running windows xp) isn't very loud.
can anyone tell me how i can fix this and if i need a different cable?
thanks.

Im guessing you brought a VGA cable that displays picture, you will probably now need a 3.5mm audio jack cable. Like this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-0464.aspx . Dont know the length you want. You will also need to make sure your laptop has a sound output (i imagine it has) and your TV has a 3.5mm sound INPUT (most do)Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Give us a clue.
What kind of cable did you buy?
What inputs and outputs do the PC and TV have?
What make and model are the PC and TV?0 -
I think it could be a VGA cable (its blue on both ends if that helps), I've found an audio input on the back of my TV (Samsung) and I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop with has two 3.5 shaped holes.
I presumed they were for headphones and a mic - do i use the headphone socket to connect it to my TV?Sam. x0 -
Yes, headphone socket should work, or use some seperate speakers connected to the same socket on the laptop0
