They will be reducing energy prices for the whole group.
Southern Electric, SWALEC, Scottish Hydro Electric and Atlantic Electric and Gas.
Not just Southern.0 -
switched to them around 3 yrs ago, and every time I do a Uswitch check they are only ever beaten by 10-12 quid, so think they've been consistently good value. no reason to doubt this won't continue..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Call me a cynic but why did they feel the need to increase gas and electricity prices on the 1st of January before announcing a decrease a few weeks later.
I`m sure the gas went up by 12.5% and the electric by 9.5%.
Clever marketing perhaps?:money:0 -
Possibly because they (in effect) planned the January price rises in May 2006. The clever marketing was promising to delay future price rises until then and thus not increase them in September when most other suppliers did; this is just the fallout.
I'm sure it would have been cleverer marketing not to bring in the January price rises, as they are likely to lose more customers from that than they are to gain customers with cuts in the future. Presumably, delaying for 4 months cost them too much for that to be an option.0 -
Anyone manged to get a clear idea on the decrease in price. Southern electric agent I spoke to the other day did not want to tell anything. He said he didn't know...0

Its not a marketing tactic to pre announce impending cuts, they are just trying to forestall switching fever where everyone starts jumping around to the percieved cheapest supplier.
As for Ebico, I'll happily wait until Sept for the next price cut if nescesary. Their service is excellent, their charging policy is fair and I can understand the bills. Price is almost not important (as long as they are close to cheapest that is).

Perhaps SSE are waiting for all the others to do what they think and then come in and undercust them. It could give the rate chasers and the rivals a lot of work without profit.0

I would assume its a case of doing their sums to see how much they can cut by & waiting to see what the others are cutting their prices by. The next price cut will have to just right ,cut by too much & you may lose some profit & it may hit share price .Cut by too little & you lose customers. Must be a twitchy time for Suppliers.0

Just got off the phone with southern electric and here are the price cut:
Gas -12% effective 1st March 07
Electricity -5% effective 01 April 07
Not as much as I'd hoped but still not negligble.0 -
This is a bit of p**s taking as this matches nearly exactly the Januray 07 price rise.
So we are back at Dec 06 prices. We won't see a great deal of savings here. I hope they do take the prices down further in the summer...
