which secateurs?
Options
Hi
Can someone explain the difference between the different types of secateurs ? Or point me in the direction of a website that can?
The main ones I've seen are anvil or bypass. Is it best to have one of both sort or one more than the other?
(I need to get some as a gift for someone)
Hope someone can fill me in

Interesting bit in Wiki

I personally find my bypass secateurs are perfectly good for normal use, if I come across something really thick to cut I use a small folding wood saw! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Yep, I'd go for bypass, but be aware that they can't manage as thick stems as anvil IMHO0

I hate that type, I have another pair now with the silly rolled metal spring piece missing.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Dearest isn't always the best, mine get abused, left out etc. Luckily around 3 years ago I bought some on special in Lidl, i think they were £1.49 a pair. Still going strong, and having bought 2 pairs I can usually find one of them when needed.0
