They also said they have a backlog of work for their engineers to do.
Devious wording. They don't have any engineers, they just call Openreach (they have to pay Openreach to do whatever work is necessary).

The obvious conclusion is that they're delaying calling Openreach in the hope the fault will miraculously fix itself, the subscriber will stop calling and they won't have to pay.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Oh but they charge the customer for the engineer.

That's right, for the honour of having my services moved to my new house - after 3 weeks downtime - I'll have to pay £59 for the engineer to do the installation. It'll probably take them all of 10 minutes, if they even have to come round at all.

As soon as my contract is up, primus can go :silenced: themselves.

I don't want to rub salt into the wound, though I think it's actually £69 for the engineer to do the installation :(
  • £69?
