just going to get a link

I would suggest you post on THIS board - the blue text is a link.

Could you also break your post down into paragraphs and be a little clearer about what exactly your problem is. Unless it's a complaint about the Government. If you want to know how YOU yourself can be helped that's the board to ask on. Discussions about the Government are best posted in Discussion Time. By people with the inclination for a battle.

I know - don't worry. Just post again in the board if what you're looking for is quality advice on coping on low income/with debt. There are some people on there with excellent advice. Then ask a board guide to delete this thread (or leave it and it will 'vanish' in the pit with other 'obsolete' threads...)

Talk to your employer and see what travel to work schemes they offer. Are there subsidised taxi travel, car share or other schemes you could use? Running a car on a low wage is next to impossible. If it is likely to fail an MOT and needs tax and it is isn't worth much you could be better off without it and using taxis. Sell it now before the MOT and tax actually run out. £500 is a lot of taxi fares if you negotiate a discount for being a regular customer. You will also save money by not needing petrol, insurance, tyres, repairs etc.

Payday loans are the quickest route to impossible debt problems. I'd also go into the DFW boards and see if there are ways you can cut your every day costs to make life more comfortable. This way you can save up for a car and have spare money to cope with anything unexpected that comes along (which it always does when you don't need it)

this is what I mean though - people like you (and me) who find that what comes in is what comes out get hit hard when something unexpected crops up; hence your having to resort to payday loans.
You need to try to be a bit more pro-active and find alternatives for yourself. Taxis have been mentioned - what about car-sharing with a colleague? You CAN give them money for petrol. Public transport? There are deals on season tickets and even tickets available for multiple journeys in one day, dependant on where you live.

One thing you could do is join a credit union if there is one near you, because they are there to lend to people 'in crisis' and at more favourable terms. Debt Free Wannabee is probably the place to go - they will advise how you CAN end up with some savings - and it's far, far cheaper to borrow from yourself (ie use the savings) than from any other lender (with the exception of Bank of Mum and Dad, although I know not everyone has such a credit facility!)

If you can ride a bike(most people can) then you could do the 20 miles each way a couple of times a week to cut down on petrol costs. Before long you would be cycling it all week as you got fitter.
There are often bikes on freecycle.
