    Hi All
Saw it mentioned somewhere else then lost it.....
Anyone else not able to open additional vantage accounts online? Is it right that you either have to go in or do it by phone?

PS need to get sorted as need to complete my escape from the dark side!
  • I was unable to open second account online, and there were various others on here posting the same problem, though many also reported success. It's easy enough to do it by phone - they provide an 0800 number IIRC. But that was back when the rate was still 4% - perhaps with the rate cut they are saying they don't really want to attract people to the same degree, and they might resist a bit ..?

With a rate of "only" 3%, there's not really the same attraction as there used to be in having multiple accounts.

TBH i no longer see the point in the Vantage accounts. Since they dropped their rate from about 4% gross to 3% gross, i've now called up to shut down all my Vantage accounts.

There's enough savings accounts out there offering 3% or more on under £3k, even with no limits on withdrawals. I've got 2 Santander accounts with £2.5k in each gaining me 5%. That's before i get onto eSaver accounts that again beat the Vantage accounts.

I threw mine into the Halifax, £5/month free + 2.8% instant access savings account. Its true that the account only works for 12 months at that rate, but it seemed easier than a couple of Vantage accounts.

Rest of my stash is in SaffronBS @ 3.15% (but I think its now 2.5% for new customers, which is pretty crap)
  • The AA will give you 3.2% for 12 months from a pound.
  • Thanks everyone.

I know what u are all saying about the rate having dropped just thought might get a second for easy access/transfer.

Trying to get away from santander so not liking that option much especially with how long it took to get money to Lloyds.

Was having another look after posting on here as was looking at N R savings account so might do a dig on that.

    Thanks everyone.
