No hot water, advice pls

Hi all,

I am having a new bathroom fitted. Water has been off today, fitters gone home, went to fill the kitchen sink and there is no hot water. Its a combi boiler and the fitters have been turning the water on and off outside in the drain hole thing as there is a prob with my stop !!!!. I do remember him saying something about the hot water, is it poss he has forgot to turn hot back on somehow only cold?

Thanks
Louise

Could be a number of reasons. Probably best to get on the phone unless you a) know that the plumbing in the unfinished bathroom is isolated (so won't cause a flood) and b) where your stop c0cks are re restoring supply. Is the heating working?

Heating is working. The stopcock he was using is the one in the street, he had a big pole that he used to turn the water off.

My dad just popped round, said boiler is trying to start up when the hot water only is selected but isnt. He thinks it could be an air lock.

If you have cold (fresh) water at the sink then the water's on. The heating being on means the boilers working so your hot water supply might be isolated (possibly because they haven't capped the hot water piping in the bathroom). Would you know an isolating value is you saw one (NOT being rude)....? if yes have a look at the hotwater piping in the bathroom. If you see cut pipes but no isolating valves of taps on the end of them, your hot water has been turned off (on the face of it). But it could be other reasons...

All the pipes in the bathroom have cover type things on them. I'll speak to the fitters in the morn and hope its something simple! Thanks for the advice.

I suspect they have turned off the supply somewhere and forgot to turn it back on..... If you can get by until the morning then it's not a train smash. There's always wet wipes :D

    cheers.
