Thanks for taking the time to explain it all... I`ll never remember loads of passwords OMG! I have a big list of contacts just on hotmailas this is the only email site I tend to use.
    Not thought about Amazon etc....
Can they read all my emails or do they only have access to email contacts? sorry to be a bit thick but this is quite horrible and new to me.
When you say you would not keep our contacts online, nor emails (until you have accessed them which of course means they will be online until I download them). what do you mean?
I do have 3 hotmail accounts, but other two seem to be ok.

If the emails on the affected account are still on line then yes they could have read them (and copied them)
I use Thunderbird for my emails (it is like Outllook/Outlook Express/Windows Live mail all of which work for many people, but not my choice) which means that all of my emails/contacts only exist on my PCs (except for transient emails which I have not yet accessed). If someone gets access to one or all of my online (multiple accounts :D) account then they get a few emails and a few senders' addresses that is all. If you have 3 hotmail accounts then I would gradually tell your friends/contacts to use one of the other two. I hope you have changed the passwords on those two too:cool:

Oh well, suppose if they wanted they will be able to have a really good read as I save a lot of emails under different headings!! I`m just so cross with myself that this can have happened..but not sure how! grrrrr

I think for my own peace of mind I`ll set up a new email account later (got to go out in a bit)...daft question but because all the contacts are on the account that has been messed with how can I without doing it individually tell everyone I have a new email? is there a simple way to do it in bulk?

I`ve just read the lilnk for password safes...the LastPass seems quite good! is it `simple` to operate? I can`t manage complicated when it comes to anything technical - this is maybe why I`m in this mess. But saying that my passwords arn`t just 1234.

My concern is my bank accounts...I want to check everything is ok but am scared to open them. Any suggestions?

To tell you the truth its all quite frightening, I`d intalled all the antivirus etc on advice from forum members when I got this new computer and thought I`d be quite safe. It just makes it scary as I don`t quite understand it all and am worried that I might miss something important and only find out something has happened when its too late.

Thank you for your help so far, its much appreciated.
